Important update about Central Lakes Medical Group – September 2022

Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) is pleased to announce that Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC) has been awarded a temporary contract to deliver primary medical services at Central Lakes Medical Group on an interim basis.

This contract will ensure care continues to be delivered from both the Ambleside and Hawkshead sites whilst a long-term provider is identified.

Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB Primary Care Contracting Group decided to undertake a process to identify a new GP Practice Provider, after Dr Ward, Dr Davies and Dr Cook notified the ICB that they intend to resign as GP partners at both sites from 31 December 2022.

Cumbria Health on Call, a locally-based primary care provider, will deliver services from 1 January 2023 until 31 March 2023.

A spokesperson for the ICB said: “CHoC provides primary medical services at a number of Cumbrian GP practices already, as well as the out-of-hours primary care service, and this temporary agreement will ensure that all patients at Central Lakes Medical Group continue to have access to high-quality General Practice services whilst we undertake a procurement process to find a long-term provider who will be in place from 1 April 2023.”

Letters have been sent to patients of Central Lakes Medical Group informing them of the changes, and the ICB has issued a patient questionnaire to obtain views on priorities for the new service.
