Public Involvement and Engagement Advisory Committee
At the ICB Board meeting on Wednesday 19 March, the Board approved recommendations from a review of the committee structure of the ICB which included changes for public involvement and engagement. Papers for this are available here.
The Public Involvement and Engagement Advisory Committee (PIE AC) was established in July 2022 in support of the ICB’s need to develop and establish mechanisms for listening, engaging and involving local people. Since then, the Committee has had a valuable advisory role to the Board in supporting the ICB to deliver against the principles and approaches set out in the ICB strategy for working in partnership with people and communities. This has included successfully developing a range of mechanisms for the way the ICB engages and involves local people and ensuring the voice of local people and residents is actively embedded and valued in decision making of the ICB and at all levels of the system, particularly in relation to inequalities and those who are seldom heard.
In relation to the review of ICB governance, it has become clear that engagement and involvement mechanisms have become more mature across the ICB, and the value of more regular updates being directly presented at the ICB Board in relation to engagement, involvement and communications either as separate reports or within individual agenda items.
The Board approved for the Public Involvement and Engagement Advisory Committee to be disestablished from 31 March 2025. Oversight of engagement, involvement and communications strategy and approaches to support service change and consultation would be overseen by the ICB executive management team and assurance and/or recommendations provided directly to the ICB Board on such proposals, along with a regular quarterly insight report. All of which would be under pinned by continued strong system partnership working on engaging and involving the public and our communities, which has been supported and encouraged by the committee in its approach to-date.
Previous papers of the committee are available below.
