Blackpool’s popular series of health events, Active into Autumn, is set to return next month.

The twice-yearly showcase of local health and wellbeing services and activities will visit four local communities ahead of the main event at the Winter Gardens on Friday 11 October.

Active into Autumn is hosted by the Blackpool Place Based Partnership, which includes NHS, local authority and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector organisations. This is a chance for local residents to find out more about the health and wellbeing services, activities, things to do and other support that is available on their doorstep.

Karen Smith, director of health and care integration, said: “This has been a really popular event in recent years, and people who attend often remark that they have found out about so many things to do in and around the town.

“Active into Autumn is a marketplace-style event – we’ll have activities and taster sessions taking place, with lots of local support available to talk to. It is free to attend, just pop in and stay as long as you like.”

Active Into Autumn will be at:

  • Layton Methodist Church on Monday 7 October (noon to 4pm)
  • Tarnside Community Centre on Tuesday 8 (1pm to 5pm)
  • Kincraig Community Centre on Wednesday 9 (1pm to 5pm)
  • Palatine Leisure Centre on Thursday 10 (11.30am to 3.30pm)
  • Floral Hall, Horseshoe and Pavillion at the Winter Gardens on Friday 11 (noon to 4pm)

Dr Arif Rajpura, director of public health for Blackpool, said: “We want to celebrate Blackpool as well as highlighting all the great services and offers of local support that are available.

“There will be various health checks taking place and you may even find a new activity or group to join.

“Active into Autumn is a good chance for us to showcase our expertise, share valuable information, and show what Blackpool can do when we all work together.”
