The Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) palliative and end of life care team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the North West region of the Great British Care Awards.

The team, which earlier this summer also won the national Palliative and End of Life Care Award, has been recognised for its partnership working across health and social care in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Dr Lindsey Dickinson, an associate medical director at the ICB, is the senior responsible officer for palliative and end of life in Lancashire and South Cumbria. She said: “I am delighted that we are North West regional finalists for our co-production work in palliative and end of life care in the Great British Care Awards.

“This recognises the team in their achievement in collectively working in partnership with various statutory health and social care organisations across the health and care system, and in all of our places, along with local authorities, the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector and independent sector partners, Marie Curie and NHS England North West Clinical Network.

“This process has helped to strengthen relationship development and collaborative working, sharing of best practice and expertise, and understanding the gaps in service provision. It also recognises that the whole palliative and end of life care system is greater than the sum of its parts.”

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector, paying tribute to those individuals and teams that have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

The awards represent all areas social care from the independent and voluntary sectors, including residential, home care, housing with care, learning disabilities and autism services, children and young people services and suppliers of products and services to the sector.

The awards are inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working.

The award ceremony will take place on the Saturday 9 November at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester.
