The Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Apprenticeship Awards are taking place next month, celebrating the “exceptional talent” we have in our system.

The annual event recognises the outstanding contribution and achievements the apprentices from across Lancashire and South Cumbria have made over the past year.

There are 11 award categories which include Above and Beyond, Perseverance, Promotion, Rising Star, Equality and Diversity, Non-Clinical Apprentice of the Year, Team Player, Innovation, Clinical Apprentice of the Year, Excellence and Employer of the Year. View the shortlist here

More than 200 apprentices have been nominated and the winners will be announced at a black-tie event on Friday 19 May at The Imperial Banqueting in Preston.

James Fleet, chief people officer for Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, which organises health services for the region, said: “The Apprenticeship Awards are a fantastic opportunity to showcase the exceptional talent we have in our system. These awards include apprentices from North West Ambulance Service, the five hospital trusts in our area, primary care, social care and wider partners within the system.

“I’m proud to say that we have a really broad range of apprentices in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Some are college graduates, and some are people retraining later in life. It’s never too late to start a new career and this apprenticeship scheme provides for everyone.

“The awards are a celebratory occasion where we come together to recognise the hard work and commitment of our apprentices and to say thank you. They bring significant value to their workplaces and there are some remarkable nominations for this year’s awards.”

The Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Apprenticeship Awards launched last year and the event, which was held at Stanley House in Blackburn, was a huge success.

This year, the awards ceremony will be hosted by Megan Hornby, who came third in The Apprentice on BBC One.

Tickets to the event can be purchased here and include a welcome drink, a three-course meal, tea and coffee and entertainment after the awards ceremony.
