Update regarding development of a primary care centre for Kirkham and Wesham

We would like to once more reassure people living in Kirkham, Wesham and the surrounding areas that plans remain in place for a new primary care centre on the former Wesham Hospital site in Derby Road.

The site has been fully cleared with half of it currently being developed as a care home. The other half, closest to the park in Derby Road, will be the site of the new primary care centre.

While we appreciate a significant amount of time has passed since we spoke to local residents about these plans, we can confirm it is still our intention to develop this centre to house general practice and other health and care services for the area.

Negotiations about issues such as land ownership and funding have recently concluded successfully and we look forward to appointing an architect in the not-too-distant future.

As per our promise to local residents made when we first announced these plans, we will convene a panel of patients to support the development of the primary care centre and hold public engagement sessions as required.
