Welcome to Spring into Spring!

The annual Spring into Spring health and wellbeing roadshow is back in Blackpool in May, with a string of community events in and around the town.

The popular showcase of local health and wellbeing services and community groups will take place over six days, and offer a chance for local residents to experience and find out more about what’s on offer on their doorstep.

Spring into Spring is organised by the Blackpool Place Based Partnership, which includes NHS, local authority and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector organisations.

If you’re planning to join us at Blackpool sports centre, why not pop along to meet the dedicated people behind Blackpool parkrun?

Meeting in Stanley Park every Saturday morning at 9am, Blackpool parkrun has been around for eight years, and is going from strength to strength. With more than 300 participants and volunteers, parkrun is more than just exercise, it’s a whole community.

Runners come from all over Blackpool and beyond to be part of the joyful welcoming atmosphere – and if you’re not a runner, why not try walking the course? Volunteers offer encouragement to anyone who needs a bit of moral support.

First-time parkrunners are especially welcome, with a special ‘newbie’ briefing so you’ll know exactly what to expect, where to go, and what will happen when you’ve bravely made your way around the course.

The atmosphere is cheerful, exciting and welcoming – assembling under the beautiful clock tower, you’ll see chalk art (courtesy of Chalky Dave) offering messages of hope and encouragement.

You’ll be welcomed by run directors as they address the runners, and you’ll be part of a diverse, inclusive group of people from all ages and stages of life – from tiny children in sporty push-chairs, to Duke of Edinburgh young volunteers, to older adults using walking aids; if you’ve got the will to move you can be a parkrunner!
